Sparky Parkies awarded grant by Jersey Community Foundation

We are delighted to have been awarded a grant for our Sparky Parkies programme by The Jersey Community Foundation, with funds from the Jersey Lottery.

Our Sparky Parkies programme is run in collaboration with Parkinson's Jersey and provides speech and language therapy, voice therapy, and a collaborative environment to sing songs, take part in mindfulness and wellbeing exercises.

A diagnosis like Parkinson's can be lonely and challenging, and our sessions not only provide important therapies, but also a community where people can come together and chat over a cup of tea.

"As Parkinsons disease progresses, so does the loss of one's communities. Sparky Parkies gives me a genuine community every week." - Jo, Sparky Parkies participant.

The highlight of our Parkies calendar is our Christmas panto, when we all perform and even make our own props, and our Wet Wheels outing when we sail off for the afternoon and sing sea shanties.

We are a small but impactful charity, and we would not be able to do what we do without kind grants and donations, and of course our wonderful volunteers. We are incredibly grateful to The Jersey Community Foundation for seeing the value in what we do, and by committing to making a difference for their fellow islanders.
