Monday Melodies hosts special session for Liberation Day

Monday Melodies was honoured to attend Silver Springs Care Homes on Liberation Day this year, for an extra special session.

Liberation Day occurs every year on May 9th, and marks the withdrawal of German troops from the occupied Channel Islands in 1945. The Channel Islands were the only part of Great Britain to be occupied by the Nazi's in World War II. Every year, the community comes together to remember the victory over facism, as well as those lost in the occupation.

The songs included White Cliffs of Dover, Lambeth Walk, Kiss me Goodnight Seargant Major and of course Beautiful Jersey in English and Jersey French.

The residents were keen singers, leading us in Beautiful Jersey. Some even were there for the first Liberation Day (albeit as small children).

Thank you to the amazing staff at Silver Springs and your lovely residents for making this happen!
